Experience
Mr. Christman has over 40 years of management experience in retail security and investigations. He has a BA degree and was a Special Agent for two federal investigative/intelligence agencies as well as having
experience with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
From 1971 through 1993 Mr. Christman was Vice President and Director of Security and Loss Prevention for Macys WEST a major national retailer where he directed a staff of over 500 security personnel in over 60 stores
and facilities in various states west of the Mississippi. Prior to joining R. H. Macy & Co., Mr. Christman worked as a security executive in regional supermarket and drug store companies and with a major DOD
aerospace contractor.
Mr. Christman co-authored the book Shoplifting: Managing the Problem published in 2006.
His most recent book, Retail Crime, Security and Loss Prevention - An Encyclopedic Reference, published in March 2008,
is a 690 page co-authored work. This book is enhanced with 63 contributions by others who contribute expertise in
specialized areas, provides over 150 definitions of loss prevention terms, includes suggested LP forms,
and discusses nearly 200 security/loss prevention topics. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the
Loss Prevention Group of the National Retail Federation in 1983, twice re-elected, and served until 1994.
He was named to the Security Advisory Boards of Golden Gate University and the College of Marin, where he
was also an instructor of security courses. He is currently a Member of the Advisory Committee of the
National Association for Shoplifting Prevention.
Board certified by the American Society for Industrial Security as Certified Protection Professional [CPP] in 1977; granted Lifetime status in 1998.
